Food Allergy Network
Patient oriented, (funded by grant from Kraft). "The Food Allergy Network (FAN) is a nonprofit organization established to help families living with food allergies, and to increase public awareness about food allergies and anaphylaxis (a severe life-threatening reaction). FAN provides education, emotional support, and coping strategies".
Environmental and Preventive Health Center of Atlanta
Series of short articles probably written for patients of this environmental/allergy medical clinic. The nutrition material is generally of a somewhat alternative bent (candida, chronic fatigue, mercury poisoning etc).
Food Allergy Center: Environmed Research Inc.
Home page for a commercial environmental medicine nutrition centre in the US. Their site gives access to lots of detailed material on their approach to food allergy.

Very useful site. "A public health initiative of the Koop Foundation, a non-profit corporation. Headed by C. Everett Koop, M.D., the former Surgeon General of the United States. Launched in December 1994 to combat the rising rates of obesity in America." This site is a very well constructed and illustrated one focussing on healthy diet and exercise. It has a healteh professional `library' with a lengthy Guidance Document on the Treatment of Adult Obesity, lots of lay educational material on-line, sections which allow the visitor to calculate their own BMI, to assess their fitness level,and to find out about different types of physical activity. There are also press releases. .
US national overweight statistics
From the National Center for Health Statistics, tables showing US national values in relation to prevalence of overweight, broken down by sex, age, race, and Hispanic origin. Shows comparative figures over four 4-5 year periods from 1960 to 1991.

"The Zone" (popular lay book)
